Requisite Documents and Fees

Note: As of 14th August, 2016, the Hague Apostille Convention will enter into force in Brazil. From this date onward, the Embassy will no longer accept requests for document legalization. Documents issued in India, to be valid in Brazil, will need an apostille label issued by the Ministry of External Affairs of India. Please find more information at: http://mea.gov.in/apostille.htm

Tourist – VITUR

• The Applicants passport should not expire less than six months from the intended arrival date in Brazil. The passport must have one blank page available. You must also bring the photocopies of the first 2 pages and last page of the passport.
• One Visa Application Form needs to complete the Online Visa Application Form from the link given as:-
  https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp
• After you fill out the form, you will be requested to take a print out back to back. Signed by the traveler only, glue your photo on the appropriate place. (Parents must sign for minors under 18 years old).
• Two photographs (35 x 45 mm with white back ground, close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 80% of the photograph). Snapshots or computer pictures are not accepted.
• A covering letter signed by the traveler addressing to Consulate General of Brazil, Mumbai.
  • If passenger is self employed then covering letter must be on company letter head.
  • If employed then covering letter on company letter head in original with travel dates.

• Proof of financial capability to pay for one’s stay in Brazil (copy of international credit card with proof of credit limit / foreign exchange endorsed on the passport etc.).
• Notarized Income Tax returns for last three years.
• Original Bank statement (applicant name mentioned on it) for last six months.
• A copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passenger’s name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates with PNR number along with Airline stamp.
  
  

  Minors under 18 years of age must provide the following:

   

  • Original birth certificate and a copy. Copies presented without the original birth certificate must be notarized.
  • A notarized letter of consent, signed by the parent not traveling with the minor, or by both parents if the minor is traveling alone (if the minor is traveling with both parents this letter is not necessary if both the parents sign the visa application form and all names appear on the itinerary and both parents are applying for the visa at the same time).
  • Immunization record for polio for children between ages of three months and six years. If the child cannot be inoculated, bring a notarized letter from the child’s physician.

• Yellow fever vaccination is required at the time of travel and not for visa processing.
• Please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas.
• Visas must be used within 90 days from the date they are issued or they become void and are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa.
• Visa fee has to be paid in form of a Bank Draft in favour of “Consulate General of Brazil” payable in Mumbai.
• If the application is submitted through a Travel Agent or Authorized Representative then an additional consular fee is levied.
• Visa processing takes seven to ten days.

Seminars / Conferences /Congress: Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.

• Signed invitation letter from the organizers mentioning the following: a) details of the proposed visit of the applicant b) responsibility to see that the applicant returns back to the country of origin after the event, c) details if the applicant wills receive any monetary benefits.
  
  

Sports Competition / Art Contests: 

Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.

• Signed invitation letter from the organizers of the competition/contests stating the following: a) details of the proposed visit of the applicant b) responsibility to see that the applicant returns back to the country of origin after the event, c) details if the applicant will receive any monetary benefits by way of any prize money d) if there will be any entry tickets sold for the event.

Amateur Athletes/Art Contests: 

Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.

• The activity to be performed.
• Location and duration of the activity/event; and
• Stating that the participant will not receive payment and that no tickets will be sold for the event.
• That they would be responsible to see that the applicant returns back to India.

Sea Farers Families: 

Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.

• A letter from the shipping company as per format.
• Copy of husband’s passport.
• Copy of husband’s CDC with the relevant validity page.
• Copy of husband’s contract / assignment letter.
• Copy of the Marriage certificate.

Short Term Rotary Exchange Programme:

 Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.

• Letter from the Indian rotary giving details of the selection process and confirmation of selection.
• Letter from Rotary in Brazil giving details of Host family mentioning clearly that they would be responsible for the applicant while in Brazil and would ensure the applicant returns back to India after programme.

Cruise Travelers: 

Besides the General Requirements the following must be met.

• The cruise ship’s itinerary with the traveler’s name clearly indicated and proof of payment.
• A round-trip ticket to and from the cruise’s port of departure and arrival.

Note: If passport is not issued in the jurisdiction of brazil consulate in Mumbai then address proof such as Government Electricity bill, Government Telephone bill, lease agreement with notary (copy will do but notary stamp must be in original).

Visa fee has to be paid in form of a Bank Draft in favour of “Consulate General of Brazil” payable in Mumbai.

Please bring the bank deposit slip for the processing, or handling fees, as applicable, with your application.

Note: If application is submitted through a Travel Agnet / Third Party than additional fee of Rs. 1600/- is levied. The total amount to be submitted to the Bank is Rs. 8000/-.

Business Temporary Visa – VITEM II

VITEM II (Business Visa) might be granted to foreign citizens that wish to travel to Brazil on temporary basis, to undertake business, provided no remuneration would be received in Brazil. The Consular Authority shall verify if the activities to be undertaken by the traveler do not imply a case for Work Visa (VITEM V).

• The Applicants passport should not expire less than six months from the intended arrival date in Brazil. The passport must have one blank page available. You must also bring the photocopies of the first 2 pages and last page of the passport.
• One Visa Application Form needs to complete the Online Visa Application Form from the link given as:-

• A covering letter on Company letter head with passport details, applicants and companies brief introduction, purpose of travel in detail with name and signature of authorised signatory.
• Proof of financial capability to pay for one’s stay in Brazil (copy of international credit card with proof of credit limit / foreign exchange endorsed on the passport etc.). OR
• Letter of the company or institution to which the applicant is associated, taking responsibility for bearing the costs of the stay in Brazil.
• Invitation letter from Brazil on the company letter head clearly mentioning:-
  • Its registration number (CNPJ).
  • The contact details of the company, and
  • All the details of the proposed visit to Brazil, including the duration of the stay.
  • The invitation letter should be written preferably in Portuguese and English both languages.

• Notarized Income Tax returns for last three years.
• Bank statement for last six months.
• A copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passenger’s name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates with PNR number along with Airline stamp.
• Written (hard copy) letter from company or institution to which the applicant is associated, which should clarify the applicant’s profession, position and actual role, as well as the purpose of the trip to Brazil;
• Whenever possible or deemed necessary, written (hard copy) letter from the inviting person, company or institution (contact in Brazil).
• Yellow fever vaccination is required at the time of travel and not for visa processing.
• Please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas.
• Visas must be used within 90 days from the date they are issued or they become void and are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa.
• The requirements listed should not, be considered all-inclusive. The Brazilian Visa Section reserves the right to apply additional requirements when they are deemed necessary.
• Visa processing takes seven to ten days.

Filming of documentaries / Commercial / Publicity:

• Those going for filming of documentaries/commercial/publicity to Brazil must request the Brazilian partner to apply for a special authorization from the “Secretaria para o Desenvolvimento Audiovisual” of ANCINE (National Agency of Cinema) to be obtained directly by the Brazilian partner.

Joining ship/flights in Brazil:

• The letter from the shipping company must be as per format, uploaded on our site.
• Copy of applicants passport.
• Copy of CDC with the relevant validity page along with the original.
• Copy of contract / assignment letter.

Participating in Trade Fairs:

• Proof of payment for participation.

Note: If passport is not issued in the jurisdiction of brazil consulate in Mumbai then address proof such as Government Electricity bill, Government Telephone bill, lease agreement with notary (copy will do but notary stamp must be in original).

Visa fee has to be paid in form of a Bank Draft in favour of “Consulate General of Brazil” payable in Mumbai.

Transit Visa – VITRA

As per the new system introduced by the Embassy, applicant need’s to complete the Online Visa Application Form from the link given ashttps://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp Embassy will no longer accept the physically filled visa forms effective immediately February 23, 2010. Please note it is mandatory for the categories Tourist – VITUR / Business Temporary Visa – VITEM II and Transit Visa – VITRA.

In Transit to Another Country (passing through Brazil on the way to another country).

• The Applicants passport should not expire less than six months from the intended arrival date in Brazil. The passport must have one blank page available. You must also bring the photocopies of the first 2 pages and last page of the passport.
• One Visa Application Form, downloaded, printed back to back, filled out in blue ink, dated and signed by the traveler only. (Parents must sign for minors under 18 years old).
• One recent clear (2in x 2in) passport-photo, front view, white background. Snapshots or computer pictures are not accepted;
• A covering letter signed by the traveler and addressed to the Embassy giving details of the proposed trip.
• All letters presented to the Embassy from India and/or Brazil must have the name, designation, department and contact number below the signature of the Authorized signatory.
• Valid visa for onward travel to the destination country.
• Proof of financial capability to pay for one’s stay in Brazil (copy of international credit card with proof of credit limit / foreign exchange endorsed on the passport etc ).
• A copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passenger’s name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates with PNR number;
• Please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas.
• Applicants are advised to obtain the international vaccination certificates, however please check for vaccination information about yellow fever and anti-polio shots;
• Visas are officially valid from the date of first entry in Brazil.
• Visas must be used within 90 days from the date they are issued or they become void and are good for single entry for the duration of the visa;
• The Consulate of Brazil in Mumbai does not process same day visas. It usually takes from 3 to 4 working days to process your application once approval is got from Brazil.
• The Consulate may request additional information/documentation, as deemed necessary.

For Mumbai Consulate the visa fee has to be paid in form of a Bank Draft in favour of “Consulate General of Brazil” payable in Mumbai.

Please bring the bank deposit slip for the processing, or handling fees, as applicable, with your application.

Note: If application is submitted through a Travel Agnet / Third Party than additional fee of Rs. 1600/- is levied. The total amount to be submitted to the Bank is Rs. 3200/-.

Temporary Visa V- VITEM V (Work Permit)

Who is eligible:

Scientists, Professors, Technicians or Professionals of other categories with a work contract and also:

• Professionals traveling to render service to the Brazilian Government in relation to an international contract, convention or treaty of which Brazil is a part and recognized by the Ministry of External Relations (RN 35/99 CNIg).
• On a work contract with a entity based in Brazil. (RN 12/98 CNIg).
• Volunteers and social workers without employment contract and payment, engaging in community work or rendering service to a religious institution (RN 47/00 CNIg).
• To provide technical assistance in relation to a contract, cooperation agreement, convention or similar instruments signed by the foreign entity or in case of urgency or emergency.(RN 61/04 CNIg).
• For professional training immediately after completing of a technical school or university course, without a work contract (RN 37/99 CNIg).
• An employee of a foreign company being posted as a trainee in the subsidiary or Brazilian branch of the company, whose remuneration will be paid exclusively abroad by the foreign company ( RN 42/99 CNIg).
• Professor traveling to Brazil for training in an institute of foreign languages (RN 41/99 CNIg).
• Ship Crew member of foreign vessels operating in Brazilian territorial waters by a contract signed with the Brazilian company to provide services or or risk. (RN 58/03 CNIg).
• Ship Crew members of foreign fishing vessels rented by Brazilian companies ( RN 59/04 CNIg).
• Ship crew members and other professionals who exercise remunerative activities on board cruise ships plying along the Brazilian coast, Amazon basin or any inland waters (RN 51/02 CNIg).

Important: General Instructions

• This visa is issued only after authorization is received from Division of Immigration Brazil.
• The Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi does not process same day visas. It usually takes from 3 to 4 working days to process your application once approval is got from Brazil. During high season (May to July / Oct to Feb) processing times may increase significantly. Please plan accordingly;
• Visas must be used within 90 days from the date they are issued or they become void and are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa;
• Visas are officially valid from the date of first entry in Brazil.
• Please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas.
• Once the application has been submitted for visa, the applicant/travel agent will have to wait for the mandatory 24 hours before making any enquiry.
• All communication from India, addressed to the Embassy must be in original only.
• All photocopies submitted must be clear, legible and valid.
• Applicants are advised to obtain the international vaccination certificates, however please check for vaccination information about yellow fever and anti-polio shots;
• Applicants are advised to obtain the international vaccination certificates.
• All letters presented to the Embassy from India and/or Brazil must have the name , designation, department and contact number below the signature of the Authorized signatory
• All documents from Brazil, must be notarized in Brazil and submitted with the original notaries seal visible.
• Applicants must present themselves along with the visa application form given to them by the Embassy for registration with the Federal Police in Brazil within 30 days of arrival.

General Requirements:

Application must be submitted to the Ministry of Labor in Brazil by the sponsoring institution or company in Brazil (except in the case of volunteers and social workers for which please scroll down) at the following address:

Only after approval by the Ministry of Labor in Brazil will the Ministry of Foreign Relations authorize processing the Visa. Once this Embassy has been authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Relations then you are required to present the following.

• The Applicants should have a passport (valid for a minimum of One Year at the time of submission, and with at least two blank pages available for the visa stamp) with a photocopy of the first 2 pages and last page.
• The Applicant needs to complete the Online Visa Application Form from the link given as:-

• Original Police clearance certificate (PCC) is required.
• If Work Permit approval is for 1 year then Health certificate is required.
• Issued ticket with Airline stamp.
• Immunization record for polio for children between ages of three months and six years If the child cannot be inoculated, bring a notarized letter from the child’s physician. Polio certificate/letter must be duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala House, New Delhi.
• Consulate can ask for the personal presence of the Applicant.

For Mumbai Consulate the visa fee has to be paid in form of a Bank Draft in favour of “Consulate General of Brazil” payable in Mumbai.

Please bring the bank deposit slip for the processing, or handling fees, as applicable, with your application.

Note: If application is submitted through a Travel Agent / Third Party than additional fee of Rs. 1600/- is levied. The total amount to be submitted to the Bank is Rs. 9600/-.

Volunteers and social workers:

Important: Applicant must be resident within the Jurisdiction of the Embassy for a minimum of one year prior to applying for the visa.

From Brazil: (All documents must be notarized in Brazil and submitted with the original notarial seal visible).

• Letter from the Brazilian institution, mentioning.
  – Invitation to render service as a volunteer.- Specific information on the activity to be performed, location and duration of the engagement.
• Letter from the Brazilian institution mentioning (Termo de Responsibilidade)
  – Responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant during his stay in Brazil- Responsibility for his/her return on expiration of his stay in Brazil or at any time following the termination of the mission.- That the applicant will not perform any remunerative activities
• Copy of the following documents of the institution in Brazil, duly notarized:
  – Bylaws of the institution (“estatuto social”)- Act in which the institution’s directors were nominated- Proof of inscription in the national or local “Conselho de Assist├¬ncia Social”- Proof that the institution is still established and functioning- Act indicating the appointment of the applicant to the intended position with powers of representation and registered at the appropriate governmental institution in Brazil.

From India:

• The Applicants should have a passport (valid for a minimum of One Year at the time of submission, and with at least two blank pages available for the visa stamp) with a photocopy of the first 2 pages and last page.
• Two Visa Application Form, downloaded, printed back to back, filled out in blue ink, dated and signed by the traveler only. (Parents must sign for minors under 18 years old).
• One recent clear (2in x 2in) passport-photo, front view, white background.
• Letter from the Indian institute/ company addressed to the Embassy giving details of the proposed visit to Brazil.
• Police clearance (PCC) duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, and then legalized by the Embassy. A fee of Rs.1,000/- will be charged.
• International health insurance valid in Brazil. If the original is presented, a copy will be made and legalized at the Embassy for a Rs.250/- fee. A copy that is brought by the traveler must be attested by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and then legalized by the Embassy. A fee of Rs.1,000/- will be charged.
• Proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e., letter from the employer/educational institution notarized, copy of utility bill or voter’s registration), attested by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and then legalized by the Embassy. A fee of Rs.1,200/- will be charged.
