Requisite Documents and Fees

Pursuant to decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, starting with 1st January 2014 until the Republic of Croatia fully applies the provisions of the Schengen acquis, all aliens holders of valid Schengen documents do not require an additional (Croatian) visa for entry and short-term stay in Croatia.

In line with the Government’s decision, aliens who are holders of:

Do not require a visa for transit through or intended stays in the territory of the Republic of Croatia not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period. The period of validity of the above mentioned Schengen documents shall cover the duration of the transit or stay.

  • Uniform visa (C) for two or multiple entries, valid for all Schengen Area member states.
  • Long-stay visa (D) for stays exceeding three months, issued by one of the Schengen Area member state.
  • Residence permit issued by one of the Schengen Area member state.
  • temporarily do not require a visa for entering and stay for transit through the territory of Croatia.

The stated Schengen documents must be valid at the moment of entering as well as leaving the Republic of Croatia to allow returning to the Schengen area.

  • A passport valid for at least three months from the date of expiry of the visa. The passport must be issued within last 10 years and should have at least 2 blank pages.
  • Copy of all relevant pages (biodata pages) of passport with copies of all previous (valid and expired) visas.
  • One visa form filled out in detail in block letters and duly signed by the traveler. Agents are not authorized to fill the application form on behalf of Applicant.
  • The application form can also be filled out online at: https://crovisa.mvep.hr/ .
  • One recent coloured photo (35 x 45 mm, white background, without borders, 90% of the photo should cover face i.e. up to shoulders only, photo to be pasted on form, not to be stapled).
  • A detailed covering letter by the traveler explaining purpose of the intended visit to the Republic of Croatia.
  • Proof of current status in native country:
    • Service – Letter issued by the employer on company’s official letterhead establishing position of the employee in the company, years in service and grant of leave.
    • Business/self employed – Visa request letter on official letter head with company registration papers.
    • Student – Letter from school / university for grant of leave and copy of the valid ID.
  • Copy of return ticket or confirmed booking (by Air/ Surface/ Sea transport).
  • Ensured accommodation for stay in Croatia:
    • Guaranteed by part payment / credit card.
    • Confirmation of the Guarantied reservation should be directly sent by the Hotel / Apartment / Guarantied (Private Visit) to the Embassy directly by fax / e-mail.
  • Day to day itinerary with ensured accommodation for the entire stay.
  • Minimum funds to cover estimated stay in Croatia:
    • Euro 50 per day – for an applicant holding business or private guarantee letter from Croatia, proof of fully paid hotel booking or a similar document.
    • Euro 100 per day – in absence of a guarantee letter / fully paid accommodation or holding a partly paid accommodation.
  • Proof of sufficient funds:
    • Endorsement on passport / receipt of purchase of foreign exchange (amount as given above).
    • 3 months bank statement (Shaving and Current account as applicable).
    • 3 years Income Tax Returns (personal and Company as applicable).
    • Copy of International Credit Card with minimum 3 months credit card statement.
  • Travel health insurance:

  • Guarantor natural person may be a Croatian National or a foreigner with a granted residence in Croatia, who received income or has financial means in the Republic of Croatia.
  • Guarantor natural person must enclosed the letter of guarantee a proof of continues source of income in Republic of Croatia during the last 3 months (Certificate of Salary, Pension) or a corresponding proof of possessing funds in the bank.
  • Guarantor signature on the letter of guarantee must be certified by a public notary in Croatia.

  • A message/ fax from the Shipping Company in Croatia, sent directly to the Embassy stating particulars of the Seamen, date and port of joining the ship is required.
  • Confirmed return / onward ticket.
  • Valid visa for the destination country.
  • For an Applicant holding business or private invitation from Croatia, proof of pre-paid hotel booking or a similar document is needed. Confirmation of the reservation should be sent by the hotel / apartment to the Embassy directly through fax / email.
  • In the absence of an invitation/ proof of ensured accommodation, the Applicant is obliged to present endorsements on passport @ Euro 50 (cash/ traveler cheques) per day of the estimated duration of stay in the Republic of Croatia.

  • The Applicant should mention on the Pay-in-slip/ Bank receipt that the payment being made is towards the visa fee.
  • The Applicant is required to submit the counterfoil of the Bank’s receipt as a proof of payment of visa fee while applying for visa.

Kindly note further, any change in fees, additional document or personal presence of the applicant might be required. It is at the discretion of the Embassy.
