Name: Iraq

Note: It has been decided to screen all visitors to the Republic of Iraq for communicable infectious disease. The categories of visit are classified. Visitors have to undergo Medical Check-up.

Tourist

No individual tourist visa is issued.

Religious

This visa is granted to a group of at least 16 pilgrims, only if it is arranged by a recognized Travel Agency in India with counterparts in Iraq.

A letter containing the list of group members, their passports numbers, Name of the group leader, place of stay in Iraq and the date and point of entry has to be submitted to the Government authorities in Iraq by the Iraqi counterparts of the Travel Agency. Pilgrimage Visa allows the passenger to make a single journey, not exceeding 15 days and within 3 months from the date of issue.

The Travel Agency in Iraq is responsible for the transportation and accommodation in Iraq.

Business

  • The Applicant should have a valid passport with minimum six months validity.
  • One typed visa form and should not be hand written (photocopy allowed).
  • Three passport-size photographs with white background.
  • A covering letter from the Indian Company explaining the purpose of visit.
  • The Sponsor in Iraq needs to apply for the visa approval to Ministry of Interior and they will forward the Application to Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the approval. This process can take 15 to 20 days.
  • Sponsor needs to send the approval copy to the Applicant in India as it is required at the time of submitting the visa application.
  • A Recommendation Letter from the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is required as well.
  • Visa processing will take 7 days after all the documents are in order.
  • Visa fees will be advised only after checking of the documents.

This is granted to Students admitted in Educational Institutions and Universities in Iraq. Please contact the Embassy directly for the application procedures, fee etc.

Seamen

  • The Applicant should have a valid passport.
  • One typed visa form and should not be hand written (photocopy allowed).
  • Two passport-size photographs.
  • A Letter from the Indian Company.
  • A Letter of Invitation from the Business Associate/ s in Iraq to be faxed directly to the Embassy.
  • A fax message from the Shipping Company in Iraq to the Embassy is required, which states the particulars of the Seamen and date and port of joining the ship.
  • Indian Seamen travelling on duty must hold Letter of Guarantee from the Shipping Company along with the Seamen Book and passport.
  • A Recommendation Letter from the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is required as well.
  • The application is forwarded to the Ministry of Interior in Baghdad for approval which takes about 15 days.
  • Communication charges are to be borne by the traveler.
  • Visa issued is valid is for 120 days and allows a maximum stay of 15 days.
