Note: Effective from the 7th of May, 2007, visa application needs to be submitted online at http://www.immigration.gov.ng. A printout of the receipt so obtained must accompany the visa documents.

In view of the introduction of new visa regulations by the Nigeria Immigrations Service, a few changes have been introduced in the visa-processing of the New Delhi Mission. The revised guidelines for the issuance of visa are hereby published for general information and compliance.

Applications that are rejected for any reason would be returned to the Applicant with the reason for denial. If deemed necessary, the visa officer can request for the physical appearance of an Applicant for further interview.
The Visa clerk shall collect applications from the Applicant or his/ her representative and shall inform him/ her of the time of delivery of the passport at the Mission and the time for their collection.
The grant of visa is at the discretion of the High Commission. In the case of rejection, the Applicant will not be entitled for any refund.

Tourist

The High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, New Delhi has announced that the submission and collection of Nigeria Visa for all categories has been outsourced to Online Integrated Solution (OIS).

A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa (photocopy of the first, second and last pages).

Invitation letter from Nigeria. Identity proof of the Authorizing Signatory who signs the invitation. The authorizing signatory, if Nigerian has to provide his/her passport copy else if Foreign National, then along with the passport copy he/she is also required to provide his/her Work/Residence Permit copy.
A valid Polio (OPV) Certificate is required. The dose of OPV should be taken at least four weeks prior to the departure from India.
Bank statements for the last 6 months.
Salary Slip for last 6 months.
If Applicant is a student, evidence to this end is needed.
This needs to be accompanied with a Letter of Guarantee from the Educational Institute explaining the purpose of visit and recommending the travel (the letter should be signed by a person other than the Applicant).
Yellow Fever Certificate (in original). Yellow fever certificate is mandatory for travelling and not for visa processing. A Yellow fever vaccination certificate is valid for 10 years, beginning 10 days after vaccination. Vaccination shot to be taken accordingly.
Proof of funds, in the form of foreign exchange (minimum USD 500) endorsement on the passport (along with its photocopy).
Visa is valid for 90 days and it is issued for a maximum stay of 30 days.
A copy of confirmation of online payment and acknowledgement slip.
The Nigeria High Commission, New Delhi will accept the visa applications as per the interview date mentioned on the on-line payment receipt. Date can be obtained at the time online payment process.

All Educational Certificates must first be attested by the Ministry of Education and then by the Ministry of External Affairs (in original) in India.
Original Work Experience Certificate with the above attestations.
All of the above documentations are to be submitted in sets of 4 copies each.
Charges for attestation of Highest Qualification Certificate (in triplicate) is INR 6000.
A copy of the valid Residence Permit of the Spouse in Nigeria is also required.
