Note:- Britain has launched a new ‘super priority’ same-day visa service for urgent travellers from India, the first-of-of-its-kind service to be launched by the UK anywhere in the world. The new visa is open for bookings in Delhi and Mumbai from today, but comes with an additional fee of ┬ú600 (nearly INR 63000). If an application is successful and submitted before 9.30am, the visa will be ready for collection by 5.30pm the same day in New Delhi or by 6.30pm the same day in Mumbai.

The UK will be extending its “Passport Passback” service to all 12 Visa Application Centres in India. This service allows applicants to retain their passports while visa decisions are being made. This will be of particular interest to those people who need to travel or apply for other visas in the interim period. The service will be capped to 75 slots per day across each Visas Application Centre (VAC) in India.

• The passport pass-back service will cost INR 4200 per applicant.
• Priority Visas (earlier known as “Fast Track”) which are processed within 2-3 days will cost INR 12600 (┬ú 120).
• Prime time Appointment at the VAC will cost INR 5250.
• The User Pay Service for the VAC in Goa will cost INR 6195.
• The Super Priority Visa Service fee remains INR 63000.

General Visitor / Tourist (Application form VAF1A):

• You need to select the purpose of visit in the options given.
• After filling up the online visa form you will get an option for appointment date.
• With this printout applicant needs to visit VFS for biometrics.
• Visa fees has to be paid online using Visa or MasterCard debit or credit cards or via e-wallet (PayPal or Skrill).

UK has announced a change in collection of Visa Documents from the VFS Application Centers:- For all visa applications submitted from Wednesday 10th October, 2012, it will no longer be possible for a third party to collect the documents on behalf of an applicant, except in the following cases:-

• A parent collecting for a dependent child;
• One member of a family group collecting the passports for the whole family;
• Government Ministry representatives and a Business Express Programme company representative, approved by the company’s authorized signatories.

Applicants who do not wish to collect their documents in person, and whose documents cannot be collected by one of the above, should select return delivery by courier at the time they make their visa application.

• A passport valid for the entire duration of stay in the United Kingdom. The applicant should also attach the previous passports (these are to show your previous travel history). The passport must contain at least 1 page that is blank on both sides, so that visa can be inserted.
• One visa application form to be filled online as mentioned above.
• One passport-size photograph, not more than 6 months old. It should be un-mounted, 45 mm x 35 mm in size, with white back ground, and should be glued (not stapled) to the application form.
• A covering letter from the Applicant, giving reasons of travel.
• Evidence of your permission to be in the country where you are applying, if you are not a national of that country:- This could be a residence permit, ‘green card’ or valid visa showing your current immigration status.
• A planned itinerary, if you have one. This could include:-
  • • bookings or tickets for any excursions, trips and outings
    • email conversations about any excursions, trips and outings
    • travel agent bookings
• Supporting letter(s) from your friend or sponsor in the UK:- If you are visiting a friend you may wish to include a letter of invitation from them as well as their financial documents, as outlined in the finances and employment section. You should also consider supplying evidence of their immigration status in the UK, this could be copies of:-
  • • bio-data pages from their passports.
    • valid visa or immigration stamp from their passport.
    • Home Office letter confirming permission to stay in the UK
• Evidence of your marital status:- This could include a marriage certificate, a civil partnership certificate, a divorce certificate or a death certificate.
• Evidence of your current employment or studies:- This could include:-
  • • A letter from your employer on company headed paper – detailing your salary and the length of your employment, confirming that you have been given time off work and stating whether this time off is paid or unpaid. You should consider submitting further documents which could support an employment letter, such as, pay slips or tax returns. If you have recently entered new employment you should consider providing details of your previous employment and salary history.
    • A letter from your education provider on headed paper – confirming your enrolment and leave of absence.
    • Business registration documents confirming the business owner’s name and the date when the business started trading.
• Financial and Employment Documents: You can submit any of the following financial documents. You should consider including evidence of your total monthly income from all sources, for example employment, friends, family, personal savings or property. This will help us assess your circumstances in your own country and will provide us with evidence of how your trip is to be funded. You should consider providing this information even if someone else is paying for your trip.
  • • If someone else is paying for your trip then they should consider providing the same information about their finances and employment.
    • If you are providing documents from a joint account then please explain who the other account holders are, and why you have permission to spend money from the account.
    • If your spouse or partner is employed then the Entry Clearance Officer would also like to see evidence of their
    • Employment and financial details.
• Bank statements or bank books:- Showing what has been paid in and out of an account for up to the previous six months, and naming the account holder. If you have made deposits in your account that are not in keeping with the account history then you may wish to explain the origins and timing of these deposits.
• Bank letter or balance certificate:- Showing the account balance, the account holder’s name and the date when the account was opened. If you provide this document you should consider providing additional documents to show the origins of the money in your account.
• Pay slips:- Covering up to the previous six months. If your salary is paid directly into your bank account, you should consider providing the statements showing these payments.
• Tax returns (business or personal):- You could include recent documents from your government tax office, confirming your income and the amount of tax that you have paid.
• Business bank account statements:- If you include these you may wish to explain why you are allowed to spend the money from a business account if you are on a private visit.
• Evidence of income from property or land:- This could include property deeds, mortgage statements, tenancy agreements, accountant’s letters, land registration documents or crop receipts. If the property or land is registered in several names, you may wish to explain how much you own. If the money earned from the land is shared, you may wish to say how it is divided.
• Details of accommodation and return travel bookings:- This could be:
  • • hotel booking confirmation (usually email)
    • travel booking confirmation (can be email or copy of tickets)
    • travel agent confirmation of both
    • Accommodation details with a supporting letter from the occupant confirming that you are able to stay there.
• Visa validity varies from 6 months to 10 years and allows a maximum stay of up to 6 months starting from the date of entry into the UK.

The consular rate of exchange is £1=Rs.105 Please note the visa fees are subject to change.

Customers may request this service if they are applying for a visitor visa (excluding student visas) and have travelled without difficulty in the last five years to one of the following countries: UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or a Schengen country.

Please note: If you have been refused a visa for any one of these countries or overstayed your visa to the UK or been removed or otherwise been required to leave the UK, the processing of your application is likely to take longer than the processing times set out below, and is unsuitable for the Fast Track process.

• A covering letter from the Applicant, giving reasons of travel.
• Evidence of your permission to be in the country where you are applying, if you are not a national of that country: – This could be a residence permit, ‘green card’ or valid visa showing your current immigration status.
• Evidence that the earliest onward passage from the UK has been booked/ confirmed, and that it is either within 24 hrs of arrival in the UK of Direct Airside Transit or 48 hours of arrival in the UK for Visitor in Transit. This could be:-
  • • Travel booking confirmation (can be email or copy of tickets).
    • Travel agent confirmation.
• Evidence that you are assured entry into the onward country that you are travelling to. This could be:-
  • • A residence permit.
    • Green card.
    • Valid Visa.
• Evidence of your marital status:- This could include a marriage certificate, a civil partnership certificate, a divorce certificate or a death certificate.
• Evidence of your current employment or studies:- This could include:-
  • • A letter from your employer on company headed paper – detailing your salary and the length of your employment, confirming that you have been given time off work and stating whether this time off is paid or unpaid. You should consider submitting further documents which could support an employment letter, such as, pay slips or tax returns. If you have recently entered new employment you should consider providing details of your previous employment and salary history.
    • A letter from your education provider on headed paper – confirming your enrolment and leave of absence.

• Two passport-size photographs, not more than 6 months old. It should be un-mounted, 45 mm x 35 mm in size, with white back ground, and should be glued (not stapled) to the application form.
• A covering letter from the Shipping Company, giving reasons of travel.
• Indian Seamen travelling on duty must hold a Letter of Guarantee from the Shipping Company with the Seamen Book and passport.
• A Letter from the Shipping Agent in the UK should be sent to the High Commission, stating particulars of the Seamen and the date and port of joining the Ship.
• Indication of financial standing and funds in the form of evidence of Employment and Savings (in India) and, where necessary, Income Tax Return for last three years should also be provided. Itemised Bank statements for the last six months, salary slips etc, could also be added to support the application.
• If your sponsor, employer or anyone else is supporting you, you could show evidence of his or her immigration status in the UK. This includes six months’ itemised bank statements, payslips and evidence that they are willing to pay for your stay in the UK.
• Evidence of any firm travel plans like an Air Ticket or a letter from the Travel Agent confirming the Ticket Cost Deposit etc are required as support documents.
  
  

Work Permits

This is issued by the Department for Education and Employment. Regular Work Permits are only issued for jobs involving a high level of skill and experience for which no resident labor is available in the United Kingdom. Permits may, however, be issued to enable Overseas Nationals to come to the United Kingdom for training or work experience.

Application for a Work Permit has to be placed by the Employer in the United Kingdom, at least 8 weeks before the commencement date, at the address mentioned below. The Applicant should not travel to the United Kingdom before receiving the permit. Failure to comply will result in the refusal of admission for the job.

There are certain categories of employment for which a Work Permit is not required, such as:

• A Working Holiday Maker or Au Pair;
• A Minister of Religion, a Missionary or a Member of a Religious Order;
• Representative of an Overseas Firm that has no branch, subsidiary or other Representative in the United Kingdom;
• Representative of an Overseas Newspaper, News Agency or Broadcasting Organization, on a long term assignment to the United Kingdom;
• A Domestic Worker of a member of the Staff of a Diplomatic or Consular Mission;
• A Domestic Worker in a private household;
• A Teacher or a Language Assistant deputed to an Institution in the UK under an Exchange Scheme;
• A Member of the Operational Ground Staff (but not other staff) of an Overseas-Owned Airline;
• Postgraduate Doctor/ Dentist coming for training;
• Seasonal Worker at an Agricultural Camp.

• One passport-size photograph, not more than 6 months old. It should be un-mounted, 45 mm x 35 mm in size, with white back ground, and should be glued (not stapled) to the application form.
• A covering letter from the Applicant, giving reasons of travel.
• Evidence of your permission to be in the country where you are applying, if you are not a national of that country:- This could be a residence permit, ‘green card’ or valid visa showing your current immigration status.
• Evidence of your marital status:- This could include a marriage certificate, a civil partnership certificate, a divorce certificate or a death certificate.
• Evidence of your current employment or studies. This could include:-
  • • A letter from your employer on company headed paper – detailing your salary and the length of your employment, confirming that you have been given time off work and stating whether this time off is paid or unpaid. You should consider submitting further documents which could support an employment letter, such as, pay slips or tax returns. If you have recently entered new employment you should consider providing details of your previous employment and salary history.
    • A letter from your education provider on headed paper – confirming your enrolment and leave of absence.
    • Business registration documents confirming the business owner’s name and the date when the business started trading.
• Financial and Employment Documents: You can submit any of the following financial documents. You should consider including evidence of your total monthly income from all sources, for example employment, friends, family, personal savings or property. This will help us assess your circumstances in your own country and will provide us with evidence of how your trip is to be funded. You should consider providing this information even if someone else is paying for your trip.
  • • If someone else is paying for your trip then they should consider providing the same information about their finances and employment.
    • If you are providing documents from a joint account then please explain who the other account holders are, and why you have permission to spend money from the account.
    • If your spouse or partner is employed then the Entry Clearance Officer would also like to see evidence of their.
    • Employment and financial details.
• Bank statements or bank books:- Showing what has been paid in and out of an account for up to the previous six months, and naming the account holder. If you have made deposits in your account that are not in keeping with the account history then you may wish to explain the origins and timing of these deposits.
• Bank letter or balance certificate:- Showing the account balance, the account holder’s name and the date when the account was opened. If you provide this document you should consider providing additional documents to show the origins of the money in your account.
• Pay slips:- Covering up to the previous six months. If your salary is paid directly into your bank account, you should consider providing the statements showing these payments.
• Tax returns (business or personal):- You could include recent documents from your government tax office, confirming your income and the amount of tax that you have paid.
• Business bank account statements:- If you include these you may wish to explain why you are allowed to spend the money from a business account if you are on a private visit.
• Evidence of income from property or land:- This could include property deeds, mortgage statements, tenancy agreements, accountant’s letters, land registration documents or crop receipts. If the property or land is registered in several names, you may wish to explain how much you own. If the money earned from the land is shared, you may wish to say how it is divided.
• Details of accommodation and return travel bookings. This could be:
  • • Hotel booking confirmation (usually email)
    • Travel booking confirmation (can be email or copy of tickets)
    • Travel agent confirmation of both
    • Accommodation details with a supporting letter from the occupant confirming that you are able to stay there.
• Evidence that you have been unconditionally accepted or enrolled on a course of study in the UK. This would normally be a letter of acceptance from the UK educational institution on their official headed paper providing the following details:-
  • • Name of the course.
    • Duration of the course.
    • Cost of the course (including accommodation if appropriate).
• Evidence of any previous study or qualifications gained. This could include:-
  • • A certificate of award.
    • Academic reference or transcript.
• Evidence of any English language ability or qualifications. This could include:-
  • • Test result certificate (for example IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic etc).
    • Certificate of award (for degrees taught in English).
• Evidence of your financial sponsor’s occupation, income and any savings or assets they have, as well as any funds they have set aside specifically to pay for your studies. This could include a variety of any of the financial documents outlined above in the finances section. The Applicant should also consider supplying evidence of their immigration status in the UK, this could be copies of:-
  • • Bio-data pages from their passports.
    • Valid visa or immigration stamp from their passport.
    • Home Office letter confirming permission to stay in the UK.
• Visa validity varies from 6 months to 10 years and allows a maximum stay of up to 6 months starting from the date of entry into the UK.

The UK Border Agency introduced a new Fast Track Visa Service in India. From January 2011, customers who are applying for a UK visitor visa can request a new Fast Track service. For an additional fee of INR 12600 (£ 120), the UK Border Agency will process the application and return the documents within guaranteed timescales (Fast Track Visas are processed within 2 to 3 days).
Customers may request this service if they are applying for a visitor visa (excluding student visas) and have travelled without difficulty in the last five years to one of the following countries: UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or a Schengen country.
Please note: If you have been refused a visa for any one of these countries or overstayed your visa to the UK or been removed or otherwise been required to leave the UK, the processing of your application is likely to take longer than the processing times set out below, and is unsuitable for the Fast Track process.

• The Applicant must be able to show full details of the arrangements which have been made for the Treatment.
• This should include a Medical Report and a reliable estimate of the likely duration and cost of the treatment.

• Essential documents of the Settled Person are also needed as support documents. This can be in the form of Residence Permit, Identity Card etc.
• The rules are different if the Sponsor is not settled there. They are also different if either the Passenger or the Sponsor is a National of another Member State of the European Economic Area (the member states of the European Community and Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein), or if the Passenger can claim British citizenship or other connection with the UK through means like ancestry.
