Two resent passport size colour photographs (3.5cm / 4.5cm) with white background, 70-80% face coverage. Photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper. Photograph should not be more than 6 months old. It should be glued to the form and not stapled.
Indian Passport with a validity of at least three months (any other type of travel document should be valid for at least six months), beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory and with at least one blank page to affix the visa.
A covering letter from the applicant introducing himself/herself, explaining the purpose, duration & itinerary of the visit in brief.

A document certifying that you have been given leave from your job / studies during the period you intend to visit Sweden
Proof of funds for stay / Evidence of source of Financial support such as :
- Bank statement for last three months
- Foreign exchange endorsed on the passport
Proof of purpose of the visit: evidence of accommodation, e.g. Hotel reservation or confirmation of organized tour
Travel itinerary or copy of booking
Visiting Relatives and Friends: Applicants who wish to travel to Sweden for Visiting Relatives and Friends visa category, they also need to submit their documents that shows the relationship between the applicant and the reference person. The relevant documents can be:
- Last page of passport (for Indian Passports where mother’s and father’s details are given).
- Birth Certificate or similar.
Overseas travel medical insurance valid for all Schengen-countries .The insurance has to cover the applicant for at least 30,000 Euros or equivalent, for all risks e.g. accident, illness, medical emergency evacuation etc. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and has to cover the entire duration of the trip including the date of arrival and departure. Bank Statement of the Employee and any other proof of funds.
Photocopies of the following are required by the Embassy (apart from the original as and where mentioned): Passport, Income Tax Returns for the last 3 years, Bank statements for the last 6 months, Salary Slips of the last three months, Air Ticket and Medical Insurance.
In case of a private visit, an Invitation (in Swedish) from the Sponsor in Sweden is needed.
The Sponsor’s proof of identity (personbevis), passport copies showing kind of permit that he/ she has in Sweden is needed as support documents.
Proof of funds either from Applicant or from the Sponsor.
Leave Letter from the Applicant’s Employer in India is also required.

A Letter of Guarantee from the Shipping Company with the Seamen Book and passport.
A Letter from the Shipping Agent in Sweden (in original) stating particulars of the Seamen and the date and port of joining the Ship.
The processing time for applicants applying in New Delhi is 10 to 12 working days and for applicants applying in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore is 12 to 14 working days.
Visa is valid for 90 days and is issued for a maximum stay of 30 days.

Work Permit

Note: Personal presence is mandatory of the Applicant as Embassy has started biometric system. The submission timings are from 0900 to 1100 hrs on Mon, Thursday & Friday and 1400 to 1600 hrs on Tuesday.

Bank Statement of the Employee and any other proof of funds.
Photocopies of the following are required by the Embassy (apart from the original as and where mentioned): Passport, Income Tax Returns for the last 3 years, Bank statements for the last 6 months, Salary Slips of the last three months, Air Ticket and Medical Insurance.
In case of a private visit, an Invitation (in Swedish) from the Sponsor in Sweden is needed.
The Sponsor’s proof of identity (personbevis), passport copies showing kind of permit that he/ she has in Sweden is needed as support documents.
